NICKERIE – MP Rawien Raghoenandan recently asked for the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture to establish a Personnel Affairs...

Department in the Nickerie District. He explained that the teachers who are stationed in the nation’s rice District have to travel all the way to Paramaribo for their paperwork. Because of this the teachers have to put a lot of time, money and effort into traveling all the way to the nation’s capital and back. According to the legislator, it must also be made possible to take care of personnel affairs in the Nickerie District. Reon Gokoel, coordinator of Primary Education in the Western Region, also supported the call for a Personnel Affairs Department in Nickerie. He explained that having this department in Nickerie would improve the services towards the teachers and also make the administrative process more efficient. Gokoel pointed out that in the past the documents could be delivered via e-mail but that teachers currently have to appear in person in Paramaribo because of the new rules.
