believe that they will win the lawsuit against them because “we did our job in accordance with the law.” The chairman of the board, Emanuel Scheek, explained that it was necessary to hold a press conference because several statements have been made regarding the lawsuit. The board therefore wanted to share its side of the story and its role within the TAS. The chairman of the board, Emanuel Scheek, and the other members of the board namely Orpheo Lamain, Steven Rodriguez, Rhenius Revales, secretaris Joan Nibte and Jon Martodikromo have been summoned to appear in court.

Nibte made it clear that the board does not want to get ahead of the ruling of the judge but that it wants to explain what happened, what its task is and which developments took place within the TAS. “The board does not want a wrong picture of this case to pop up as a result of incomplete information or speculations. Scheek made it clear that the board carried out its legal task by keeping an eye on the TAS and the funds that are managed by the organization. “The board tried to do a good job but when it became difficult to keep an eye on things, it reported it to the authorities. The board has documents to support its claim. Everything can become clear if all of the information and documents are made available,” said Scheek. The board explained that besides the lawsuit there are also tensions regarding the financial situation of the TAS.

Scheek pointed out that the board did not receive all nog the information to get a clear picture of the financial position of the TAS. “That is why the board did not give its approval to the budget. Temporary measures were taken. Every week management has to hand in a list of the payments that must be made the next week. The board then checks which payments can take place and if the reasons for these payments are valid,” said Scheek. The board also discussed the so-called surplus funds of the TAS. According to Scheek, some of the funds of the state that arrive at the TAS are put aside for the budget, investments and reserves. The money that is not spent must be returned to the state. “An investigation has revealed that these surplus funds have not been handed over for the past couple of years. The board wants to know why these surplus funds were put on hold. This important financial information is missing. The board therefore deems it important to carry out an independent investigation. Meanwhile the board which acted correctly in accywith the available information and documents will keep carrying out its duties.”
