PARAMARIBO – During a meeting with the newly appointed police commissioner, Melvin Pinas, China’s ambassador to Suriname, Lin Ji, indicated that the People’s Republic of China is willing to further deepen the collaboration with the Police Force Suriname (KPS). The Chinese ambassador congratulated Pinas with his promotion and emphasized that China is open to intensifying the collaboration with the KPS. According to Ambassador Lin, a strong collaboration could enable both countries to expand their capacity and exchange knowledge.
The Chinese diplomat pointed out that he expects the Surinamese police to keep protecting the safety and legal rights and interests of the Chinese community in Suriname. He also emphasized the importance of having a stable securtand investment climate for Chinese companies and business people who are active in Suriname.
Commissioner Pinas pointed out that the existing collaboration between Suriname and China has already provided important support to strengthening the operational capacity of the police force. He also pointed out that the KPS is willing to further expand the collaboration. According to Pinas, the collaboration with the Chinese embassy and the local Chinese community will be aimed at creating a safe environment for all of society’s groups including foreign investors and entrepreneurs.
