meet the essential legal requirements. Multiple people who requested and received government land on a large scale did not even present a business plan. In most cases these land allocations also did not have a land inspection report. The current administration also concluded that some of the people who received land at Apoera or the surrounding area are not even from that area or so not even use the land for the purpose that it was requested for. Land and Forest Management Minister Stanley Soeropawiro explained that this undermines the core principles of the land allocation policy. Officials will take a closer look at all of the land allocations to determine which ones are in clear violation of the rules. Minister Soeropawiro made it clear that land that was not allocated in accordance with the rules will be reclaimed by the government. The Ministry of Land and Forest Management is currently preparing to review the land allocations in the western part of Suriname.
