Gianzo Etnel and 21-year-old Sercinio Ansoe emerged out of the forest on Thursday. Both men managed to survive in the first by eating fruits such as mope, maripa and acai. After the men had returned alive and well they were escorted to the Emergency Room of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) by MP Michael Marengo. Reports indicate that the men who are clearly exhausted from wandering through the forest for more than two weeks are in stable condition. The men told the police that they left their camp on April 22nd before getting lost in the forest. They kept looking for the camp while eating fruits in the forest. The men managed to encourage each other to keep going. Thursday afternoon they finally found the camp where they were welcomed with open arms. Up on their arrival at the ER they were visibly shocked to hear that the entire nation had hopes for their safe return. MP Marengo, who had also joined the search for the missing men, expressed his relief. “I had sleepless days and sleepless nights but held firmly to the belief that they were still alive,” said MP Marengo.
