the manner in which the Ministry of Justice and Police is implementing its housing policy for the regional police chief. They explained that the ministry is wasting money on rent for a private house, because there is a police house in Waldeck which should be available. The chairman of the Resort Council, Shantieperkash

Changoer, explained that the house is currently being occupied by a female inspector who is actually stationed in Paramaribo but mainly uses it when she is in Nieuw Nickerie during the weekends. He pointed out that because of this the ministry has to cover unnecessary costs just to pay the rent for a house for the regional police chief while it could stay in the existing police house. The members of the Resort Council urge the Ministry of Justice and Police to instruct the female inspector to vacate the house so that the regional police chief can move in. They also urge Justice and Police Minister Harish Monorath to address the matter in order to keep money from the tax payers from being spent unnecessarily.
