According to international guidelines on safety including the guidelines of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), entering active mining sites without permission, proper training and safety measures could lead to serious injury or the loss of human lives. The dangers become bigger at night or when there is limited sight. RGM therefore urges all unauthorized people to steer clear of active mining sites and operational zones with limited access. The protection of human lives must be a shared priority to all parties involved.
