The foundation reportedly donated food products such as cooking oil, peanut butter, brown beans, peas and chocolate spread. The children’s home also received SRD 20,000 from a church community. The donations will provide temporary relief to the children’s home as the structural problems will remain big. Louis Vismale, chairman of Stichting 1 voor 12, emphasized that Nos Kasitas needs all the support that it can get and urged the government to lend a helping hand to all of the nation’s children’s homes. “These children must never fall victim to financial shortages”, said Vismale. Kasitas explained that Nos Kasitas has more problems than just a shortage of food products. The building requires a paint job and repairs but there is also a shortage of personnel. The state subsidy that was received only covered operational costs for two months. Nos Kasitas currently requires donations from friends, acquaintances and sponsors in order to stay afloat. Without all of the donations management would not be able to put food on the table for the children every day. Nos Kasitas urges the government, social organizations and private individuals to keep lending a helping hand.
