on 3 occasions namely on March 17th, April 2nd and April 17th to pawn his gold jewelry due to financial problems. V. J. also claimed that he needed money to purchase equipment that was needed on his gold concession. The first time he visited the jewelry store he pawned a good bracelet, the second time a gold necklace and the third time he once again pawned a gold bracelet. But when he showed up a fourth time the jeweler became suspicious and decided to cut one of the gold items open. The jeweler was shocked to find out that the suspect had coated silver jewelry with a gold layer of 18 karats. The suspect was identified by investigators before being arrested. Another suspect namely N.V. was also arrested during the course of the investigation. One of the suspects was reportedly in possession of an unspecified amount of jewelry, money and tools. The jeweler told the police that he had been swindled out of SRD 353,000. Both suspects are currently in jail awaiting trial. The investigation is ongoing.
