of death of 4-year-old A.W., 1-year-old A.K. and 2-year-old A.S. was unknown so the Prosecutor’s Office ordered an investigation into their deaths. The autopsy report indicates that it is suspected that the toddlers died as a result of a heat stroke and brain damage. The police report indicates that the mother of these children drive to a location in Latour to run a few errands but that she had left them in the car because they had smallpox and a fever. She had left the airconditioning on and she had also left the windows partially open for ventilation while checking in on them every now and then. After a while she noticed that the children were weak and that they had difficulty breathing so she rushed them to emergency post of the SZF which is located in the Nieuwweergevondenweg. The woman was then referred to the Emergency Room of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) but when she arrived there, the children were no longer showing any signs of life. The investigation is ongoing.
