PARAMARIBO – The union which represents the workers at the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority Suriname (Casas) has strongly injected to the reappointment of Anjulio Wolf as director and labeled the decision controversial.

Times of Suriname

It pointed out that the return of Wolf who was fired as director in March 2021 and who is currently embroiled in lawsuits against Casas raises serious questions. The workers who are shocked by his return still can’t process the latest developments. “The sensitivity surrounding his appointment is huge”, said the union which added that there is no more trust in the former director who ran Casas from 2018 until 2021. In the period when Wolf was the head of Casas there was a lot of tension between management and the workers.

The workers eventually did not communicate directly with the director but chose to do so via the board of directors. The union which made it clear that the return of Wolf poses a risk to the internal stability at Casas will hold a union meeting after the Easter holidays to determine the best course of action. It did not rule out taking firm action.

Anjulio Wolf who evidently wants to reconciliate made it clear that “I am aware of the challenges within the organization and the sector”. “It is familiar territory”, said Wolf who referred to his past experiences within the aviation sector. Wolf made it clear that there is no room for leaving things unfinished. He explained that “I want to get a clear picture of the situation within Casas before choosing a strategy.” “I am counting on the full support of the government as well as the aviation sector. Collaboration will be crucial to the progress of the organization. Nobody can do this on his own. Together we can do it”, said Wolf.
