with the empty promises of the government. They explained  that the problem has only gotten worse throughout the years and that every administration present plans but zero results. After each heavy rainfall their dream of living in the perfect neighborhood turns into a nightmare as streets, yards and even houses are flooded. The residents feel helpless when they see the water level rising in front of their eyes. “Each time it rains we start to worry,” said a female resident. “Sometimes the water enters the house and every room is flooded. Furniture is damaged, matrrasses get wet and equipment breaks. We often have to live in dirty water for several days.” According to the residents, the flooding issue not only poses a financial problems but it also proses a threat to the public health. Families with children fear the diseases that could pop up as a result of the dirty water and poor hygiene. The stagnant water also attracts another problem namely mosquitoes and that is when residents start to worry about getting infected with  dengue, chikungunya and other diseases. The residents pointed out that they have been asking for a structural solution for many years because the clogged drainage systems and weak pumps result in flooding. They explained that the government must focus on prevention. “We no longer want political speeches. Each government promises to tackle the problem. Meanwhile we keep drowning,” said another resident.
